When I try to delete e-mail messages I receive in Outlook Express 5 -- I get the "This program has performed and illegal operation and must be shut down" message. I can move the messages to another file but when I hit "delete" I get the error message The Details says its an exception in module DIRECTDB.DLL. Help! What do I do? This problem started all of a sudden today. Thanks.

I'm using Windows 98. Read the revisions to me original post -- I can move messages, but not delete them or move them to me "deleted" folder.

Directdb.dll is associated with Microsoft Direct Database.

If you haven't done so already I would suggest that you attempt to repair OE through Control Panel's add/remove program. When you click on Internet Explorer in add/remove two of the options should be Remove or Repair. Select repair and follow the directions on the screen.

    Post back with your results.

    HTH. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I went to the link provided by Kevin, followed the instructions... and voila! I'm back in business. Thanks Kevin. I assume that I'll be able to copy my old messages to the new files, right?

I'm not sure what you mean. But copy away...I guess.
