    I am trying to help a friend with Outlook Express on a Win XP Home Edition system. The program quite often hangs up, usually trying to send. I have tried the following:

    1. Spyware removal programs
    2. Virus removal programs
    3. Norton Systemworks Cleanup and Win Doctor
    4. Re-installing OE using run->cmd->%systemroot%\inf,
    install MSOE50.inf

    Any other ideas?

    Mike

    Have you checked his/her event logs for clues?

    Give detail about 'Hangs'. Forever? Whole PC or just OE?

    And if you ever need to do it again, easier to right-click on msoe50.inf and then click 'install'.

    No.

    The whole PC until you kill OE with task manager. Seems like there are a couple of OE processes running.

    Ok.
