Outlook Express features eratic !

Hi:

We've been using Outlook Express all this time.
Now we get strange results as we attempt to do e-mails.

Here is the specific problem:

We compose our e-mail.
With cursor in the body of the mail we Click "Format ". We get a box.
Click Background. We get a box.
Click Sound. We get Background Sound Box.
Click Browse. And find the .mid or.wave fil we want.
Click OK. The Background Sound Box now has data.
Click OK,

The music plays. Or it did at one time.
Now it may play and may not.

Any idea what is causing this "will do/will not " mode ?

We did a restore to earlier date when everything was ok.
We verified that the .mid and .wav file types are assigned a program.

Yet the problem still occurs.

Did you just update WMP to 11 and this start happening? Uninstall it from Add or Remove and it should go back to 10or what ever you were using before.

 

Outlook Express woes caused by Media Player 11

Hi:

Ok all the postings we did trying to get Outlook Express problems fixed
are answered here.

We rolled Windows Media Player 11 back to Player 10.

OE works fine now.

Problem was that a .mid file could not be embed in e-mail.
The .mid files now play real good in the e-mail since returning to WMP 10.

Final question: How can we prevent Microsoft from automatically installing WMP 11 over the "good" WMP 10 ?

In updates, use Custom and you can pick a choose what you want.
