outlook express can't remember password

i've just installed dsl on my windows xp and outlook express now doesn't know my password I can enter it, but the "remember password" window is grayed. Looking in Tool, Internet Options, connections, Settings, the password appears (althouogh it has more dots than it needs to, just as it did in dialup. Tthere must be a place I can enter it properly and have my pc remember it. I don't want to type it in every time.

 

More information. This is not a dial-up account, it is dsl. Internet Express is 6.0.

 

i reinstalled the sbcglobal dsl setup and the password problem is fixed, sort of. i have sporadic email service with zone alarm on and zonealarm off. i guess i'll keep looking. thanks
