I do have more than one mailbox with different providers on my PC.
One mailbox/provider is marked as standard.
When I wish to make a dialup, I can choose a specific provider.

Some time ago the system now and then started to change the username and password to the same as the standard connection.

It does not happen every time I choose a provider other than the standard and I have not been able to link the problem to any other occurrence on the computer.

Does anybody know why this happens and is there a solution to this annoyance?

This may be of some help - MS KB article 264672 :

'Your Outlook Express Password is not Retained in Windows 2000 or XP'

    Hi PeteC

Thank you but the article only applies to Win2000 and WinXP and I forgot to mention that my OS is Win98.

Further I may add that I do not experience any problem in retaining the password.

My problem is that the username as well as the password are now and then when choosing another email account than the standard the logon name and the password are changed to the same as the standard dialup.

    Best regards

I believe the computer is "remembering" the last thing you entered. Try going to tools, internet options, content, autocomplete. You will see the settings. You can clear the passwords and forms..

    Hello Aleekat

Thanks for the advise. It seems to work.

Since your recommendation username and password have only been changed once.

When it happens I will remember to do the clearing.

    :)
