Resolved Outlook Email Searching Stopped Working

I run Outlook 2010 on Windows 10. Two days ago, Windows updated itself and now Outlook's email searching has stopped working properly. It sometimes finds emails that fit the search, but only those received since the Windows update, and even then, misses many of them. This is very frustrating as I use the search function a lot and it has worked fine until now.

Windows details are:
Windows 10 pro
OS Build 14393.222, 64 bit

Outlook details are:
Outlook 2010
Version 14.0.7173.5000 (32 bit)

I would be grateful for any suggestions for restoring this functionality.

Before there was time for anyone to reply here, someone suggested that I try having Outlook re-index the contents of the folders. I've now done that, and the problem appears to be solved!
