I'm thinking of migrating from Palm Desktop to Outlook2000.

Palm Desktop has a scheduler that runs as a process (an entry in the Startup directory) and the reminders pop-up whether or not P. Desktop is launched.

    1st Question:
Can Outlook do this, or do you always have to have it launched in order to get the reminders?

    Thanks,
    Kent

    ps:
2nd Question: Is there a way to have more than one reminder for the same event - say 4 hours before and also the day before? There were also Palm plugins for this.

Hi kbarb and welcome to the boards.

It's been a while since I used Outlook's calender and reminder features but I do believe it has to be running in the background in order for the reminders to pop up. As to your second question, you would have to put in two (or more) reminders with the times and dates you want to be notified at. I believe there is a method of putting in repeating reminders as well. Should have some info in the Help section of Outlook, fair amount of info in there.
