Yesterday my outlook stopped sending emails. Two of them just sat in the outbox and it attempted to send but timed out.

I have gone through many suggestions including deleting and restoring my yahoo account, removing all add in's, turning off Norton AV, changing the outgoing port to 587 and now it will successfully send a test email but it is still trying to send the two in the outbox and new emails are not getting in. It will not send any new emails, only the test email. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Try to drag the two mails out of the Outbox to the drafts box.
Set your port info settings etc back to where they were and click the send reveice button.

Thanks, Steve. I did what you suggested but no luck. When I restored the port settings back to the defaults, it couldn't even send a test message. I changed the outgoing port to 587 and it will at least send and receive the test message. I moved my two messages from the outbox to the draft box and sent them. They will only go to the outbox and the send/receive will eventually time out.

I have two folders and I switched the default settings on them w/o success as well.

Thanks, that is one of the first things that I tried. I can receive and it will send a test message but not send any written message.

Did you get any new mail?

Move the two mails out of the way again - and send a simple mail to yourself?

Do have Thunderbird installed, to test if you can send from there.
I do use both. I know a little bit more work deleting emails as both programs will receive them.

I do receive mail but cannot send. I did remove the two emails out of the outbox into the draft folder and I sent an email to myself. It would not send that mail. It indicated that it was sent but it remains in the outbox after repeatedly clicking on the send/receive command. It has not hit my yahoo account either.

    Steve,
Some additional info. If I go to repair; it cannot log on to the server, but if I follow the process to manual setting, (w/o changing any setting) it will send a test message successfully.

Are you by any chance using a laptop and you're in a different location then you were when the email worked OK?

Having an email account for say Comcast but tring to send mail while connected to a different ISP could cause this.

    Steve, this is my desktop.
I did resolve the issue last night by adding a new email account using all my existing addresses and settings. Now it works.

I thank everyone for the help.
