My boss was using outlook express and I installed outlook 2007. Now she is unable to view emails that are in plain text format. HTML and Rich Text come through fine, and in some previews of emails she can see the plain text, but not when she opens the message.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same issue.

Any ideas on a course of action, or instructions on additional information that I can provide?

    Thank you.

Unfortunately when I select the Read All Mail as Plain Text box, all of the messages appear blank.

I have found that when I display hidden characters, plain text emails appear as a very strange subscript and strikethrough bubble letter font which I can then convert to rich text, and change the style to normal, at which point the messages are legible. The problem is that the large number of steps required make it very inefficient for my boss to read messages that come through in plain text.

See if changing the default font Outook uses will help.

In Outlook 2007 – Tools – Options – Mail Format – Stationary and Fonts -
Composing and reading Plain Text messages.

That absolutely was it. Somehow hidden, strikethrough, subscript, emboss, all caps, and hidden were all selected.

    Thank you so much!
