Am just trying to set up SBCM on a LAN with three computers and each has 4 or more logon user profiles, many of which will require shared access to the SBCM database.

SBCM requires that Remote (from the machine that contains the database - ie the SERVER) Users have a logon profile on the machine that contains the database.

This all seems to work fine, except if the SERVER logon user profile (where the database resides) happens to be recorded by Windows XP as the Owner (ie Joe is stored as
    Code:
    C:\Docs & Settings\OWNER
    and not
    Code:
    C:\Docs & Settings\Joe
) In this case SBCM can not find the database.

I presume this is a bug, as otherwise it seems to work fine.
    Any workarounds?

Have just moved the database, and still it all works fine, except that the reverse happens.
Now that 'Joe' is a client, he can not connect to the database until there is a Logon User Profile in the name of 'Owner'

This is a tolerable workaround, but it does mean extra Logon User Profiles = messy.

I haven't even thought what happens if the Logon User passwords don't match. Hopefully it's not relevant...

As an aside, the requirement for all possible remote Logon User Profiles to also exist on the server would seem to make MS Office Small Business Contact Manager impractical for an organisation of more than say 10 people??
I guess they're thinking really SMALL, or am I still missing something?

    Spoke too soon.

It does not work for the remote user, and passwords (which are identical) or permissions seem to be the problem when working in this direction (ie Joe = Owner is remote; it did work OK when Joe = Owner was the SERVER)
