I recently had to re install Microsoft Outlook 2003. I need to know how to find and recover lost folders from the previous installation. I had many folders as I use it for personal business and after the re installation they are gon.

    Hi,

    Welcome to WindowsBBS.

You will have to import the old .PST file, which will restore any folders/messages you had.

Arie. Thanks for your reply. I did not back up anything before I re installed it. Is there a way to search and recover it from the hard drive or registry. I am an intermediate knowledge person and don't know where to begin with this process.

Open Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab. There are three "hide" options. Disable all three.

    Then go to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

And see if the pst files are there. Hopefully you'll see you old files. If so, back in Outlook use the File Import function and drill down to the location above.

Steve. I tried by typing the C:\ Documents link in the import box and now it tells me I don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation. I'm so close, but "I can't get there from here" ????

Before reinstalling the version have you taken the backup of the PST files? If not, don’t worry, there are still chances that you can get back you PST files. Firstly, stop using your computer and run the Instant File Recovery Software. By this you will have your lost .pst file recovered. If the recovered PST files are corrupt, the next step would be to recover the email messages from the corrupt .pst file.

Well, you can repair or recover the lost emails from the corrupted .pst file by using Outlook Mail Recovery Software. Software recovers attachments, including the documents and images attached to messages and embedded in HTML bodies. And also recovers embedded objects, such as Excel Worksheets, Word documents, etc. First try the Demo version, which displays all the folders and the recovered emails inside each folder, which gives you a fair idea about the chances of recovery.

    Hope this helps you.
