I have been using Outlook 2003 for quite a while. A couple of months ago, it started showing that there were 2 new messages in the Inbox which were not showing. If my Inbox opens with, say, 7 messages, there are actually only 5 messages visible. If there are no visible messages, my Inbox is indicating there are still 2 there unread. But where are they? Then today, suddenly it is showing 3 new messages instead of 2. I have just been accepting it, but now it's starting to drive me mad. I've tried looking everywhere (including going direct into my mail on the internet) but can't find why it is doing this. Can anyone help?

For grins, click on Edit->Mark ALL Read and see what that does.

    unread!

you may also want to check your "views" setting. If you have new mail come into your inbox but cannot see it, marking it as "read" might not be the correct solution. Settings in your views drop down menu can hide messages from view, such as... goto "view" select "arrange by" and have a look at what selecting the different options in "current view" does.
