Hey all...Hope you can help :)

Just installed MSOffice 2003 over top of my MSOffice XP and alls I can say is...â€This suite is very, very kewl.â€

Everything runs fantastic except for one thing…I have lost my Outlook 2003 Desktop Icon. The install removed my Outlook 2002 Desktop Icon and did not replace it with a 2003 one.

I searched MS's site for any info and only came up with info on how to restore the Outlook 98, 2000, and 2002 Desktop Icon. For the heck of it I also uninstalled and reinstalled MSOffice 2003 but that did not come up with the desired results. Is there a registry key I have to edit to bring it back?

Note: I did NOT delete it, it just did not show up. I know I can create a shortcut but I would prefer the real deal.

    Thanks in advance...:D

    Got an answer from MS

    Hey all...

    If anybody is interested...

I had also sent an e-mail to MS on this issue and to my astonishment I got an answer approx 5 hrs after I posted this here on the forum. Unforunately I was not able to post their answer until now.

So basically if your running WinXP and you install MSOffice 2003 you will not get a Outlook 2003 Desktop icon...

    Well now we know...

    Laters,

You won't automatically get one but you should certainly be able to make a shortcut that will do the same thing for you.

    Hi Newt...

As I mentioned in my first post...yeah I know I can create a shortcut but I wanted the real deal. As you know if you right-click on a shortcut you only get the Properties of the shortcut but if you right-click an Outlook 9x to 2002 desktop Icon you get Full mail Properites and that's what I wanted.

I was going to post back that MS (Outlook Support) passed on my problem to Tech support and they gave me a *.reg file that created the Desktop Icon for me. Unfortunately it gives a minor error when I right-click and choose Properties. THe Properties Window does work though but gives the error. Tech support is workin on the error.

    That's all for now...:D

Thanks for the update. Let us know when they finally get you fixed. Sounds like a useful reg tweak to know about.
