For some reason, my outlook 2003 software is checking email even when I don't have the software open. It's just happend while I'm writing this. I don't have the software open at all. Yet, I hear the virus scan telling me that there is a message delivery. I'm using Trend Mirco for anti-virus. Can anyone shed some light on this. I don't want to know if my email is coming if I don't have the software open.

With Outlook 2003 closed, you can open the Task Manager, click the Processes tab, look for Outlook.exe and click the End Process button.

Also, with Outlook open, click Help, choose Detect and Repair. This may correct the issue of the process remaining with Outlook closed.
