According to this Microsoft website http://tinyurl.com/3hdz2ma you can upgrade a working installation of Outlook 2002 to 2003 by running the 2003 installation CD.

My question: Does this upgrade convert the existing 2002 pst file (size limit 2G) from ANSI to Unicode (size limit 20G)? Or does this have to be done separately?

    Thanks.

Did a bit more more research and found that the answer is no. Upgrading Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 is relatively simple and effective, but the upgrade process does NOT upgrade an existing PST data file from ANSI to Unicode. There are many (complex or expensive) ways to do this apparently, but I didn't have to follow it through because my customer decided to buy a new machine and start from scratch.
