I had Outlook 2000 open today. It froze. Now it won't open. When I try to open it the initial screen comes up and nothing happens.

Searched the internet and have tried the solutions offered

Try starting Outlook once with the /safe command line switch for example from the Start > Run > type "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /safe with the quotes and the space before the forward slash. - Did this and it has no impact, same result, will not open in safe mode. Also tried outlook.exe / safe

Cleared outcmd.dat files - to no avail

Is there anything else I can try? It is on a machine running with XP. If there is not a solution will upgrading to 2007 "fix" it - can I access my folders and recover the emails?

I cannot open this remotely either - from the internet source or from my other computer - a mac - where I have the email inbox also.

Thanks for any help. This is my work email address, so speed is important.

OK, so when all else fails, shut down the server and reboot..... Had done that with my computer and it didn't correct the issue. Did it to the server and we are back up and working. Go figure.....
