I just got a new PC running Windows 7 and have installed an old version of Outlook 2000 from an old disc. Despite what I have read about W7 not supporting Outlook, it installed, and does download e-mail from my Shaw server. It will not send though, giving me an error message saying "there was an error in attempting to open the address book. Could not find the WAB DLL." Am I going to get anywhere with this?

    Thanks,

    Neophyte.

Hi, I would suggest your project may be more bother than you want. Your Outlook is 12 years old!
Live Mail is for W7 I think. I use TB with XP and Vista. If I remember, the last MS Outlook was 2007/2010?
I may stand corrected on that. Cheers Neil.

It's a known problem when trying to run Outlook 2000 on Windows 7. One solution is to upgrade to at least Outlook 2003. Another, cheaper solution is to use Outlook.com, Gmail, or similar.

Well, Office 2000 is not supported on Windows 7.

The workaround for your error is to copy WAB.DLL from an older working copy of Outlook 2000 on XP and drop it into \Windows\system32 and run REGSVR32 WAB.DLL from a command prompt at the \Windows\system32 folder.
