Using Windows XP HE and Outlook 2000

I've had the same Outlook 2000 email account for 3 years. For the past 2 weeks, when I try to receive or send email in Outlook 2000, I get this message "TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. "

I spent an hour on the phone with my ISP - we created a new network connection with a new password, created a new email account, checked all ISP and mail settings and they were unable to resolve the problem. I reinstalled Outlook (Office 2000) and I still cann't receive email. I've also used System Restore.

I can see mail on the server when I go to the ISP web site, and can read it and send there, but it won't download to my mail account.

My husband uses Outlook Express with no problems.

Can anyone help me solve this problem?
    Mary Ann

Thanks so much for your reply. Even though I've used Norton antivirus for years, I found that disabling the email scanning feature just once and re-enabling it, solved the problem. I haven't a clue why it worked, just immensely grateful that it did. I love this forum!!!!! Mary Ann
