Recently installed office 2000 onto my wifes new (xp pro sp2) notebook. All office programs start except outlook 2000. Error message on startup reads "unable to open your default e-mail folders, outlook could not start because a location to send and receive mail could not be found.to add a location such as personal folder file, double click the mail icon in windows control panel ". I tried this but was unable to fix problem.I've uninstalled and reinstalled with same results.
    Thanx in advance
    Peter

Just a SWAG here, but the disc could be bad where the Outlook part is. Was this a new disc? Can you try it on another PC to prove it isn't the disc?

    Fixed

    Thanks for the input MrBill.
After searching the ms Knowledge base, I was able to fix it.I just needed to set up an mail account profile???? after doing this the program started ok.
I loaded this program on her old notebook and didn't have any problem.I'm pretty sure the problem occured because this notebook came with a trial version of office 2007, that I forgot to uninstall till after installing office 2000.

Glad you got it going. Thanks for posting back as to what the problem was fixed with. May help somebody else later on.
