I installed XP SP 2 this week. Now, when I open attachments, I do not have a choice to save them, only to open them. I went to "Tools" and unchecked "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus ". But there is still no change in the choices. Thanks to a message on another board, I did figure out how to use the File menu to save the attachments, but this is a cumbersome process. I receive many attachments from my writing students. Is there is a way to get back the "old" quick choice of "save to disk" command? Or is there a quicker way to save the attachments ?

Two things may help. First, try right clicking on your attachment- and you should get a "save as" option. If there are more than one attachments, you should see a "save all" option.

The second is to click on "View" from the email you received and then "toolbars ", click customize and ad the buttons (or remove what you don't use) to the toolbar on your received emails.

Let me know if this helps you, please.

    Suggestion worked

Thank you, thank you. I tried the first suggestion: I right clicked on the attachment and the "save as" command came up. I used it and it worked! Yea! I also tried the second suggestion. Since I have customized my Word toolbars, it was easy to implement. However, I couldn't get the icon command to work. When I clicked on the attachment and then clicked on the toolbar icon (save as), Word responded with a "not a valid web archive" message. However, since the first option worked, I don't need the second option. Thanks again for the prompt reply.
Does anyone know why MS changed the function since "save as" is also a safe option? And why don't they have anything on their knowledge base about this issue.
