Opinions on Memorex SCSI CD-RW needed

I just saw an ad for a Memorex brand, SCSI, 8x4x32x CR-RW drives with an Adaptec PCI SCSI adapter included.

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about this setup or brand?

 

This is going back a few years. My brother bought a Memorex CD-R. Spent hours trying to get it to work. Finally after about a month Memorex said send the CD-R to them and they would replace it. They send him back a CD-RW as stopped making the CD-R. He did not have any problem with the CD-RW. These were IDE drives.

 

There is one advantage the SCSI device has over the IDE; errors when making a CD-R directly from another CD-ROM drive are almost non-existent.

At $69, including shipping, it seems like a good deal. I think I'll order two, one for my son's birthday. He doesn't have a burner yet.

 

For $69.00 I would give it a try if I need a recorder. I am using a Sony SCSI CD-RW of the same speed.
