I downloaded a copy of Opera. It seems fast and has many nice features. However, when I attempt to set up my e mail account, for the life of me, I can't find any address book any where. Can anyone help?

From the Opera help file (I use v 6.05):
If you already have an email client set up on the machine, click the second choice and it will default to that one. This is the best bet.

If you want to set up an Opera account, Alt+P > E-mail > Use Opera account > New.

If you use Plan B, your regular address book will be there.
