I was watching BBC iPlayer on my 32 bit notebook in Firefox & paused it while I made a call of nature. When I resumed what I was watching I noticed that the sound/vision wasn't synchronised quite exactly. I have seen this behaviour before on Fx & SeaMonkey after restarting iPlayer even on different computers (possibly a Gecko problem). I switched to Opera & the flash player was fine. The lip synchronisation was fine.

The next day I decided to watch the end 15 minutes of a BBC program I had originally missed. I could not get Opera to run the flash player, it didn't seem to even find it, all there was was a black space.

I eventually watched it in Maxthon.

As usual I checked Opera's extensions, to no avail. I tried a PortableApps Opera version & the iPlayer was fine. Even after I added extensions.

I made a clean install of Opera. It now works fine in iPlayer, I have some extensions as well.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

    Of course.

In order for it to always be 100% perfect, everything between the sending computer and your eyeballs must always be 100% perfect . . . which isn't going to happen.

Yes, I just wondered if it was an extension combination, a problem with Opera & the BBC flash player or some other thing or combination. If someone else has experienced the same thing with Opera & the BBC iPlayer it could be indicative of a problem/bug between Opera & iPlayer.

I'm just curious, particularly as the portable Opera version worked perfectly. I had a very similar problem (also with flash crashing) with Firefox & SeaMonkey with the flash on the BBC page (predominantly).

It was SeaMonkey that alerted me to the fact that it was the VLC plug-in that was causing the problem. I simply reinstalled VLC unchecking the Mozilla plug-in in the instalment wizard.

I have since discovered that this is a known Mozilla bug.

I just wondered if there was anything known about this Opera/iPlayer problem?
