Neal: there is a disk hung up in my A drive that won't eject. I have tried several different ways to get it out without damaging the drive all to no avail. Therefore I cannot get it to boot in safe mode. Any idea on how to get the disk out without pulling the case? I can't pull the case because of this Parkinsons is now affecting my hands so bad I can't get a screw drive in the slot. also have to use 1 finger on the keyboard. It may mean a $100 trip to the repair shop. Thanks for any advice. Johnny

Your CD/DVD player will have a small hole in the front door/flap. This is normally very close to the Open/Close button.
If you straighten out a paper clip - and insert it into the hole (keep it level) it will come up against a lever internally and firm pressure to the lever should open the door/flap.
You should then be able open and get the disc out of the player.

Scroll down to a view of an LG player where you can clearly see the hole I'm referring to. Neil.

Try going to Computer and right click on the A drive which is probably your Floppy drive and then choose Eject and see if it does.

Sorry, misread your Post. I've moved completely away from Floppy drives and recently threw out 3 old drives.
If MrBill's suggestion doesn't work - I would Shut down the comp and open the case and disconnect IDE type cable from the back of the floppy drive - then Start comp again and see if it works.
It would be easier to completely remove the floppy drive to enable you to open the drive manually on the bench. You may have to toss it and replace it as I think floppy drives gave quite a bit of trouble when they aged.
Newer motherboards and comp cases have no provision for floppy drives as you no doubt know. All USB these days. Neil.

Neal. as I said in mu first post this not very important. I was trying to copy my floopy disk to CD's. the compute works fine. I can go to fiend's computer that has a floopy drive and do the copy. I only 5 floopys that has anything on them that is important. Thanks to you Mr.Bill for your efforts. will mark this thread solved.

    best regards Johny
