I cannot open e-mail messages that I have saved into My Documents; I get an error message saying that it is not an Incredimail file or has bad format. The only way that I can open it is to right click on it, send as a shortcut to the desktop and then double click on it to read it. If I send the shortcut message back to my documents it then opens! I have been in touch with Incredimail support and we have tried everything possible but no joy. They think that it is a problem with my Vista Home Premium 32bit system. Incredimail is my default mail application and I also use Hotmail and BT Yahoo Mail. The e-mails are saved as .eml files. I should be very grateful if anyone can help.

pretty weird problem. If the problem just started, .. (worked in the past), maybe a system restore will fix it. That is the only thing that occurs to me that you can do. It is obviously a valid file .. it DOES open OK (one way or another). Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying; I agree with you it is weird! I've tried system restore and also done a full disc check and the problem still remains. I don't know how long the problem has been there because I don't need to view a saved eml file very often so it's not hugely inconvenient but it would be good to know how to solve it . Thanks again.

I don't know much about Incredimail .. and I run XP, not Vista, but if I were you, I would use the free Revo Uninstaller and uninstall the Incredimail client software, using Revo's fullest uninstall options. Reboot machine. This should make Outlook or Outlook Express your default email program.
Click on an eml you have saved in My Documents and see if Outlook/Outlook Express handles it OK. If it does, download and reinstall the Incredimail product.

Make sure uninstalling Incredimail will not cause you to lose anything you want to keep. Use these suggestions at your own risk.
