When trying to view some photos from a county website I right click and then have the option to 'save to disk' or 'open with'. I choose the open with and then browse to a program I want to use. I would like to set this program as the default opener but the box to make this selection is grayed out. I'm using Firefox v1.0.
Also, the contrast on my laptop screen is very severe, blues and dark colors appear almost like black. I've played around with screen, background, etc., which is what you get when right clicking the desktop and choosing properties, but I just don't seem to be able to find something I am satisfied with. Anyone have any suggestions? This is very frustrating.

In explorer.exe (winkey-e) go to folder options, files tab and scroll down to the extention for the file (picture) type you wish to correct. Choose the change button and scroll to the program (the exe file) you wish to handlw the file type.

re: the screen, if windows can't correct the appearance, try the hardware settings; you'll have to check the manual to see how.
