Our new computer came with Office 2010 Starter installed on it. We purchased and downloaded a full version of Office 2010. If we open the full version of Word 2010 first then navigate to a file to open, it opens in the full version. But, if we go first to Documents and click on a Word file to open it, it opens in the Office 2010 Starter program instead of the full version. How can we fix things so the files open in the full version? Thanks.

Look in Add/Remove programs and see if it still shows the one that came with the PC. If so, uninstall it.

Or right click on the file and select Open With. Use the option to "always" use this application.

I was able to uninstall the starter version through add/remove programs and that seems to have taken care of the problem. Thanks for the assistance.
