opening at start

    Can anyone tell me how to stop windows explorer from opening at the desktop on boot up, others have told me to go to start menu but this is empty. Thanks in anticipation

    Dave,
    I suggest you do a search on the internet with Google or whatever, and search for -
    registry edit run
    you will find many items which will detail how to remove the registry startup of Windows Explorer you have problems with.

    Thank you gentlemen the answer was in the registry, for same reason unknown to me the value in the explorer desktop had changed; It was bugging me thanks again.

    Thanks - Registry Error

    Thanks to WhitPhil for the information on the registry error that was starting Windows Explorer at bootup. I have been trying to find out the cause for the last few weeks. A single edit of the registry and the problem was solved.
