I just updated my computer to Win 2K Pro last night, but I can only open it in safe mode now.

I don't use W2K and probably can't help, but I'd think you need to supply more information for others.

    What are your system specifications?
What (if any) error do you get when starting in normal mode?
If no error what happens, does your computer restart or hang?

There is no error message. When it starts in normal mode there is just a black screen, and then the mouse pointer shows up for a little while, then disappears. The computer screen just stays on black.

It is a Dell laptop, I know there is enough memory, but what else should I check?

    Again only information for others...

Laptop model number? (This will give others an idea of specifications)
How did you upgrade to w2k, over the top of another OS or a fresh install?

Since no one's picked up on this I'll give you a couple of pointers...

I'd start with checking for drivers particulary Gfx, unfortunately the Dell website is only showing BIOS upgrades for that model and OS, you could try the upgrade but I'd do it as a last resort. Optionally you may get better response from Dell Support

Perhaps some one else has other ideas?

I decided just to take it to our computer guy. He's going to install XP instead and add more memory.

    Thanks for all your help!
