Okay, this is follow up on a previous post. I had requested help with a second computer I had picked up. It's an older compaq presario, and the monitor I got for it is a little cheap trt flat screen. Anyways...for whatever reason, it's stuck at 600 x 800 rez, and 16 bit color. I've tried to change the settings in desktop settings to no avail. I've tried auto detection, and manual(the montior doesn't show up in the list).

Someone was kind enough to post a link to HP's driver site...but I don't know what I'm searching for. Video card drivers? Monitor drivers? I guess trt is pretty cheap, cause it's not listed...anyone know where I might find drivers for this manufacturer? Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

If the graphics card is installed (ie not mobo), have a look at the type and model of it, then search for a driver update. Maybe at the manufacturers site or drivers.com. Usually the make/model
are engraved on the card and are readable from the back of the
PC - no need usually to remove it. If you have a CD or floppy
disc for the card, try running the set-up program again.
    regards

I posted the link for you in the other thread. I guess there was a slight misunderstanding. In the previous thread you stated that you could only get 16 colors. Now you say you can only get 16 bit color. There's a big difference. If you can only get 16 colors, then it would be a video adapter (video card) problem. If you can get 16 bit color and 800x600 resolution, than it is possible the monitor doesn't support any higher. You did say it was a cheapy monitor. If this is the case, a driver of any type won't help you. You can download the drivers for the video adapter and install them. If that doesn't help, you might be out of luck. What's the brand name and model number of the monitor?

Edit: Here's a link to the other thread for those that might want to take a look. It's a closed thread, thus the reason for the new one.
