On my compaq laptop, somehow my single click funtion is now working as a double click. if i click one on something, it opens as if i double-clicked. i even have a wireless mouse and if i click once, i still get the double click. is there any way to change this setting? anything i do in the control panel doesn't seem to work. changing click speed, etc.

    thanks,
    ogre

Did you play around with any setting ? This is most probably due to that.

There woud be a mouse/touchpad icon in the taskbar. Find it, right click it and try to find out how to disable the double click. I know its too general, but with laptops you cannot be too sure, specially with all the OEM programs that they are running.

If that doesn't do it, open any folder and click on tools>folder options and on the general tab under "click items as follows" see how things are set. It's pretty much self explanatory from there.

If single click is still selected, try selecting double click and reboot. Then go back in there, select single click and reboot again.
