I am about 99% sure I found the tweak in this forum. Long ago I changed something in Netscape 4.79 which allowed faster loading because all plugins did not load upon start up. This change caused Netscape smart update to report uninstalled for everything except the browser version, however everything still worked. After installing Netscape 7 when visiting a site which uses flash (and I think any other plugin) I am directed to the plugin finder and download page. The flash will still play. I would simply like to know how to disable the plugin finder, and identify the original tweak that caused this situation.

    Hi rcerrato,

To disable the Plugin Finder Service:
    Edit|Preferences|Navigator|Helper Applications

About disabling plugins when Netscape is launched. That's something I'll have to check into for you, as that most likely would take some doing in Netscape 7.0/01. Preferences are scattered all over the program. I'll get back to you on that one...

    Hi rcerrato,

Could this be the thread that you are remembering? I really don't believe it's possible to disable plugins from loading, unless you completely remove the folder from your Program Files. This is the thread: Not So Smart Update
