Ok..... my computers having some problems..

Ok for over a month my computer has been REALLY ******* up on start up.
in the Dos thing (when it first started) There was just a small paragraph of 'things'
Some of the things i remember are, Blocky smiley faces, some black some white, music notes, card pictures like clubs/diamond/clover/spades, etc. after the Jibberish it would say "bad command or filename" I had no clue what it was!
then a few days later, It spread out to about 4 paragraphs, all mixed up of jibberish The with "bad command or filename" after each paragraph.
THEN, after a few weeks of the thing changing to just...weird stuff...
It started Having the names of my MP3's in it! i got so scared i thought it was deleting my things, but its all there..... just last night, i needed to restart, when i did, this was one of the names there "MSYNTH.DLL"

*sigh*

My brother says i have corrupt data on my harddrive, or my hardrive is corrupted.......>.<

Also my computer CONSTANTLY goes through that windows registery checker! everytime i restart it tells me that it needs to run it, what can i do about that?
And my computer freezes after about a minute after running scandisk.....

Is there any hope on fixing all this? reformating isint really an option thanks if you can.

 

have you tried running a good virus scan on your computer? sounds as if you might have a virus in there playing games.

On the first rung .

If you have a Win98 Startup disk put it in the A: drive and let the machine boot from it. And lets us know the results.

BTW. Windows won't run here.

Next.
Do a Start~run~sysedit and let us know what is in the Autoexec.bat.

It reads like some DOS game or some thing is trying to tun at boot up.

I THINK ( but am not sure ) the "MSYNTH.DLL" is an Audio file. And if the audio does get hung up it WILL hang up the machines.

In the mean time does anyone know of a Virus that will get into the DOS startup Side of the machine.

A BAD thought just crossed my mind.

If you DO NOT have a Start up disk, DO NOT MAKE ONE from your machine

And if you do have one MAKE SURE it is write protected before using it.

Yes, i have norton system works, and i have ran it a million times, plus a few other virus scans with other ones.... So as far as i know, its not a virus.

I'll ask my brother about the start up disk thing, so i'll get back to you's on it...

I also got scan disk to work some how i just started it up again, and it didint freeze. So it went through that and defrag... still havint restarted to see if that help.

 

meh..... it didint help :\ but it is different......
Normally it would do a "beep.......beep beep" just before it would come up. Now it only beeps two times ~:\
Its just a bunch of letters and symbols now..... intead of saying "bad comand or filename" its "file does not exist" (i think thats what it was......)
i just don't understand it at all...... my computer isint affected by it (yet.......)
And i havint been able to find anyone with this problem ;_;
I was thinking i could get out my digital camera and snap a pic of it to show you's, should i? would it be helpful at all?
