Can anyone advise me, when installing Office XP onto a Windows XP Professional PC that it is advisable to remove the old office 2000 Premium Software before installing Office XP. Or will the install remove the old files, and keep the original user settings ? This is particularly important for Outlook 2000 SR-1

    Thank you

Just moved it to the applications section. You should get more suggestions from here than in the OS section.

You can install Office XP over top of Office 2000. At one point during the install, it'll ask you if you want to replace the old installation. If you want to keep both versions, you'll need to do a custom install and make sure the XP version is installed in a different folder than the 2000 version.

You can't easily, if at all, run two versions of Outlook, though.

The install shouldn't mess with your Outlook settings but I strongly advise you to back up all the Outlook stuff you can't afford to lose, just in case. Don't forget your account settings, which you can export from Outlook under Tools>Accounts>Export button.
