Office 97 Shortcut Bar

I am having problems with the shortcut bar. Any application icon that I click on opens the "Open With" dialog box. I have shortcuts on the bar for folders and those work just fine. I have attempted to correct this by both removing and re-adding the icons as well as creating a completely new toolbar. Neither of these had any effect. Prior to the toolbar stopping to work correctly Explorer crashed and the shell had to be restarted. The O/S was never able to fully recover so I had to reboot. I am running an IBM 300 XL, NT 4.0 SP4 with 96 mb RAM (this is my machine at work, that's why it is so out of date).

Unixfan, Thanks!!! That did the trick. I had searched on the M/S site but I used Office 97 as part of my search so it didn't find the solution you posted.
