I installed Office Home and Student 2010 a few months ago, but every time i want to use it, it goes through the configuration process. I have read a few posts on the web, and they suggest removing my old office software, as this may be causing the problem. The old software is Office 97 Pro, and when i try to uninstall it, i get the message that i require the original disc to uninstall it, and i don't have this disc anymore. How can i uninstall it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try using Windows Explorer to drill down to the real excel.exe program file in the programs folder, right-click it and select "Run as administrator ". Once activated this way it should remain that way.

For troublesome uninstalls, try Revo Uninstaller Freeware
