I am having a problem occurring every few days. I have Office 2007 and IE7 and also MS Works 8 installed on my computer.

At times all the writing disappears, like on the tabs in the task bar, the tab is there but the titles are not, in chat I can type and send but I can't see what it says nor can I see what the other person says, just their name. Then WinPatrol pops up and it starts asking me about all the startup items whether I want to allow them or not (the ones already allowed in MSCONFIG)

Sometimes when opening Outlook (office 2007) it says it cannot open because it can't find the files, but when I reboot everything is ok.

When this happens I can't do anything except reboot. Any ideas what might be causing this to happen? I'm not sure exactly what it is, I've run extensive virus and spyware scans and come up with nothing. I disabled groove monitor because that is not a service I use thinking that might be causing the problem but problem still exists. I disabled indexing after some googling.

Sometimes have to do a hard reboot because can't get the restart button up, nor will task manager come up, sometimes can't click on anything and have error boxes but nothing in them because the writing is missing just a blank box which I have to assume is the "OK" button.

Now what happens if I have to go back to office 2003???? Will all my backups be usable in 2003?

Any suggestions or insite to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

First, check Event Viewer for errors. To open Event Viewer, go to Start > Run and type eventvwr.msc, click OK.

Check your Application and System logs for errors.

You can double click on any error for more details, and there is also a button to copy the error to your clipboard for easy copying & pasting.

Also, do a repair of Office 2007. You can do that from Add/Remove programs.

Backups? I suppose you mean your documents?

You can get the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats that will enable you to use Office 2007 files on Microsoft Office XP, or Office 2003.
