[Office 2000 compatability with Windows 7]

    My new computer has Windows 7 with a patch for XP. I have the disk for icrosoft Office 2000 Standard and have loaded it onto the computer. Every time I open up the program, the computer shuts it down. I have tried the compatibility option inside Words/Properties, set to Word 2000, Word 95, but that doesn't work. What can I do?

    Are you referring to Windows XP mode available in Pro and above?

    If so did you install Office 2000 in XP in the Virtual Machine?

    It would appear from Google that Office 2000 - Word & Excel at least - will run on 7, but Outlook has issues.

    Office 2000 is no longer supported by MS - it's 11 years old and is not listed in the software compatbility list.

    You may like to consider Open Office (freeware) which is very similar to MS Office and compatible with Office files.

    Prior to migrating to Windows 7 from Windows XP did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?
