i'm beyond panicing now since i first posted i've had oe's,od's and 06's. the explorer crashed twice and i can not uninstalled it that area is grayed out.i've repaired it three times, installed it three times, reinstalled windows and i wll say its much better since i have only had about half dozen ods,oes including oe@0028:c150593d in vxd mstcp(01)+00008f5d. called from 0028Lc14eac45 in vxd vtdi(01)+0000185. i just stared at that one they are calling in for each other.i am not going to give you all of the fatal exceptions just a sample
oe@0028:00000017 06@0028ce844f70, oe@015f:bff92ba7,od@0000:ce8551ec. i had a few invalid page fault vsmoncause an ipf in kernel32.dll@015f@015f:bff9dba7 msgsrv32 caused a general protection fault in krnl386.exe@0000148f. the explorer caused a segment not present falut in kernel32.dll@015f:bff72843. i have no explorer
we get the invalid syntax error. and i cant seem to use the little maxthon he gets this page cannot be displayed also. i get around the net with favorites and i have my homepages on my desk top. i know know if it means anything
but when i had symantec firewall it bout drove me crazy saying that kernel32.dll wanted to pick up a packet at port so&so. i told it no and the firewall told me every 3 mins it had blocked kernel 32 so i uninstalled it and norton anti-virus. could that have accidently taken some of those dlls, and vxds that went missing?i dont know what else to tell you and thank you for your help i did what you said and it said the file was missing that was before we reinstalled windows and my cd worked! i have tried to check the ods oes
faults, errors but no one has ever heard of them. oh by the way when the explorer crash i sent about nineteen reports (could not get it off the window) and sent a couple of nasty reports via dr watson and his eyesight. found out today that i can not buy a windows 98 cd, dont make them anymore. if you can figure out what is wrong with poor hal i would appreciate it muchly,as is i am still creeping around on the net trying to find help but i really would like the explorer back.  :( :(

In my experience, you either have a very bad memory stick lucky enough to still work, your processor is dying, or you are infected with at least 30 different viruses.
Reinstalling windows will not fix any of the above.
However, the above statements are really educated guesses, as your post is confusing.
    RAV Online Scan

You can find a 98 CD on ebay, make sure it is a full install CD.

Here is a photo of a memory stick, and yes it is the memory stick that is upgradeable and replaceable.
    http://www.memoryx.net/xda128.html
If it is indeed your memory, I doubt you would get all the way through the 2nd stage of installing windows.
Basically what you need to do is remove your current memory stick and replace with a known good one [the same type, capacity isn't an issue], and see if the problem goes away.
If this computer is an older one, and is very dusty inside, and this dust has been allowed to build up, preventing heat from escaping, this can lead to an early demise of the main processor.
A defective newer processor can die on you.
A dying processor can and will produce multiple errors, one right after the other.
