OE6 Won't Open

    The Desktop shortcut to OE6 quit working - when you click on it, nothing happens. Same result when you use the Start, All Programs menu. No new software installed or uninstalled that might have caused it. Using suggestions from the E-Mail Troubleshooter in Help and Support, I checked the file name to make sure it had not been corrupted.

    OE appears in the C/Programs list in Windows Explorer and contains about a dozen files. I checked in Control Panel under Add and Remove Programs in Windows Components and the box beside Outlook Express was checked . I reviewed posts in this forum over the past 6 months but most of the fixes/repairs assume that you have the program open to start working on - but I can't even get it to open. Any suggestions?

    Hi Robert

    I suggest you reregister OE and it's associated library files as outlined in this article - An Outlook Express Basic Repair Kit - scroll down to Reregister Outlook Express and below.

    All is well now. The "Reinstall ...." did the trick. Reregister didn't seem to do anything. After I got it restored (settings, address book, etc all intact) I noted a similar thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=67004 where Jazzman1968 recommended the Uninstall/Reinstall - which worked for me. Thanks.
