OE6 okay for one user, not for another

A few months ago, I noticed that OE6 (on Windows XP) began to load slowly at startup. Since I wasn't having any other problems with it and I was busy, I just let it go. A few days ago, however, the problem became worse. It now not only loads slowly at startup, but every time I switch from Inbox or Sent, etc. back to the main OE template, the screen turns white, it is impossible to minimize it, and I have to wait for the OE screen to return.

My husband has an OE account on this computer, under a separate screen name (with a separate mailbox). He is having no problems at all with his OE.

Any thoughts?
