When I double click on my outlook express 6 icon, the computer locks up. I have to use ctrl, alt, del to shutdown OE6 and try again. Sometimes it starts fine and other times it takes 2 to 4 trys to open it. I open to my inbox and if I leave an e-mail in the inbox it seems to make it worse. Have tried searching microsoft with no luck. I have been using OE6 for several months with no problem, this just started out of the blue a few weeks ago.

    Windows 98 with IE6 and OE6.

    Any Ideas??????????

Try going into the control panel, add/remove programs, highlight IE, click add/remove, select "repair IE ". OE is integrated with IE. Post back good or bad.

No luck. Followed the directions and did the repair tool. First try at opening OE6 = locked up. It did open on the second try but that is how it has been.

Open Outlook Express and leave it - for a very long time. Does it eventually start? If not, I think the only option will to be to delete the registry keys relating to Identities and delete the .dbx folders.

If you are in any doubt as to how to properly go about this (or the consequences of doing so!), please do post back before attempting to delete any keys/folders.

After making these deletions, be sure to run both Scandisk and Defragmenter before trying to launch OE.
