I have been having a problem with my BitDefender antivirus lately and have been unable to get any help from BitDefender. I turned off the automatic download feature, as my computer freezes up for about 10 minutes whenever these downloads try to install. Unfortunately, it sometimes still downloads on its own. The latest is that my computer froze during an unexpected BitDefender update, while I had OE open, along with listening to music on Windows Media Player. I was left with the only option of restarting my computer. Now, whenever I open OE, I get a window that says: "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close." What can I do to access OE6 again?

Reregister OE and it's associated library files as outlined in ......

An Outlook Express basic repair kit

Do not be concerned if msjava.dll fails to register - it may well not be on your computer.

Pete, I did all you said, and all worked except one:
"Mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DllRegister Server entry point was not found. This file can not be registered. "
    What do I do now?

If you are running IE 7 I suggest you uninstall it, try registering Mshtml.dll and reinstall IE 7.

That is the best solution I can find on the web, but with no guarantee of success.

The other possibility is to use System Restore, but I think you need to sort out the problem with Bitdefender too.

Thanks for reminding me about System Restore. I had to do it in Safe Mode, but it fixed the problem. I wasn't sure about IE7, as I just use Mozilla Firefox, so I just did the restore. Thanks for the help.
