It's me again:D I'm running Outlook Express 6 on my XP Home machine. What I want to do is change the sort of the folders located inside the "Local Folders" folder.

Current sort is: Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Drafts and then about a dozen folders I've created. I would like to move the outbox to the bottom and a couple of the folders I've created to the top. I can't move anything unless I rename it and for the "sacred" 5 boxes that came with OE apparently can't be mixed with the ones I've created.

Anyone know of a way to work around this default sort?

Thanks and Hope Y'all are working toward a Merry Chritmas:)

    Hi Jim
Don't take this as gospel. I just experimented with mine, and notice that any folders I create, are added under Drafts, and alphabetically. Short of a registry hack, I'd not know a way to rearrange them.

Hi Miss Daizy.... wanted to let you know that I will be changing from my shorts and t-shirt to jeans and a light jacket today because we had a cold front come through...... The heater actually came on today.

I'm not opposed to a registry hack. In fact I actually looked through the registry trying to find a way to sort the folders but nothing jumped out and yelled at me saying "this is the place to hack the sort thinkie you rummy!" If you know where to hack let me know and I'll hack away at it:p

    Happy Holidays to you......

There's a way to arrange OE folders to your liking...sort of. ;)

Open OE's Outlook Bar and the Folders List (View>Layout). Delete the default items you don't want on the Outlook Bar, then drag the folders you do want from the Folders List over to the Outlook Bar.

Clicking on an empty space on the Outlook Bar and choosing "Small Icons" will allow more folders without scrolling.

Once you have them all dragged over, close the Folders List and drag the icons around in the Outlook Bar into whatever arrangement you prefer.

The main drawback (which may not be a problem for most) I've found using the Outlook Bar it its inability to have subfolders displayed as subfolders...all folders, main or sub, are displayed with the same size/type of icon.

    Absolutely brilliant Miz!
I'd not thought of that. I didn't even come close in all my searches. Kudos to you!
