My wife and I are each set up with a profile on our system. When we change identities to allow her to send e mails the from line shows the email address. Would rather have her name in the from line. How do I make the change?

Not sure if it's different when dealing with different profiles, but in OE if you go TOOLS/ACCOUNTS/PROPERTIES you should be able to change the address to a name on the NAME line.

Let us know if this worked or not.

    :)

Open the address book. Right click on the one you want to change and choose properties. Click on the name tab and in the box where it says display, type the name you want to appear in the email.

Sorry. Guess I misunderstood. My first suggestion wouldn't apply in this case. I don't use profiles either so I'm not really sure how you would go about changing it. I would think that Panda's suggestion would be the way to go but evidently that didn't work for you. Maybe somebody else will come up with something. Sorry.

Zander: Here is that further clarification. Don't know if this changes anything. Let me know and I won't bug you anymore.
We already have our profiles set up for Netscape. They have been in existence for some time.
The situation that has developed for some reason is the following:
As an example I get an attachment via e mail and want to download it. It switches to Netscape and the Netscape 6.1 logo comes up. Then that window closes and a dialogue box called Select User Profile. Incuded in the box a window that shows Available Profiles. Our names are listed in that box. We select a profile. Then there is a box at the bottom of the dialogue box that says Start Netscape 6. Click that and the web site is downloaded. It's not really a problem but it never happened until a few days ago and it is an extra step that may not be necessary. Should I still follow your original instructions?

Sorry 'bout that, hollinm. I didn't realize you were dealing with Netscape. I don't use that any more and never used profiles. My hubby and I share everything. :D I'm wondering if you need to do a search in NetScape on this BBS or maybe someone else with more experience in this area will jump in.

    Sorry I couldn't help. :(
