title changed slightly and thread moved from XP to IE/OE section. Newt

I have installed service pack 2 and I am having a problem accessing hotmail with Outlook Express 6. Every time OE tries to download messages from Hotmail I get the following Error:

"Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Redirected', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 122, Error Number: 0x80004005.

I did not have this problem before installing Service pack 2.

Can anybody suggest how can I overcome this problem?

    Hi All,

I have the same problem that asiracua has.

I tried the fix suggested by Paul but it did not work.

    Any ideas?

    Newt,

Thanks for your suggestion but I think we are drifting away from theiginal problem.

I can get to hotmail from MSN messenger without any problem. My issue is that since SP2 I can no longer get to hotmail from OUTLOOK EXPRESS.

    Pete C,

That was the same suggestion that Paul made.

    It does not work.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Tom,
For the first 2 hits - Yes. What about the remaining 57,298 hits?

Back when I was using OE, Sometimes the hotmail account stopped working. I just deleted the account in OE and set of a new (old one). Maybe?....

    Pete C,

I tried the first 10 hits.

    Same problem.

I am not about to try all 57,298 hits.

If I wanted to do a google search!

    I would have.

I thought I could get help on this bbs.

    Tom.

It was not my intention to offend, nor to be flippant, I was merely pointing out that there were more references to your problem than the two from MS.

Please bear in mind that we are all volunteers who give freely of our time to help others, in some cases several hours each day. We have varying degrees of knowledge/experience, but our sole aim is to solve as many problems as possible. There is no guarantee on this BBS or any other of a solution to all problems.

In an endeavour to help out we will often search Google for relevant answers on behalf of a poster, but we do not have the time to read or assess more than the first few hits, let alone a few pages of hits. For my part I use OE, but not Hotmail. I made my contribution - if you choose to ignore it that's fine with me, but please do not say 'If I wanted to Google I would have done so'.

Stick with us - a solution may be forthcoming in the next few days.

I would follow Bill's advice in Post #9 before proceeding.
