OE Identities

I am fairly new to OE and am still finding out about it. One problem I am encountering on a fairly regular basis happens when I switch from one Identity to another. The switch is not made and I lose access completely to OE. It requires rebooting to regain access. This is annoying.
Am I doing something wrong here? How can it be fixed?

Lochinvar--Are both identities working properly other than the problem in switching? Does this happen in both directions (i.e., switching from Identity A to Identity B, and vice versa) or just one direction?
Is this something new?

 

According to this site, Microsoft has issued a patch for it.

It says that before installing the patch, you have to get and install Internet Explorer Service Pack 1.

Then the patch can be downloaded from TinyUrl.

 

Methinks that's a different bug, Miz, which results in OE "sticking" on the current identity - it doesn't, AFAIK, cause OE to crash.

But maybe the two are, at least in this instance, related ... can't hurt to try.

 

Thanks all for your useful comments ... but ... when I went to d/l the patch I got a message that said I need to install SP1 for OE6.
As it happens, I am using OE 6.0.28 and my specs indicate I already have SP1; Q922925; Q330994; Q828750 and Q824145.

It seems I am using the latest version of OE but the patch won't download.

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions.
