This is for you guru's out there. I want to protect a folder in OE from deletion. I want it to be like the Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items and the Drafts folder. None of these can be deleted.

I am not talking about files. I am talking about folders (these are actually databases DBX files) in Outlook Express. When I open OE the databases look like folders in the application. Well I have created several of my own folders (dbx files) and I want them to have the same properties as the OE folders, at least to protect them against deletion.

Steve means that the *.dbx files can be deleted from within Windows Explorer but the next time Outlook Express is started, they get recreated (empty).

OldSalty means that the "default folders" can not be deleted from within Outlook Express. That option is greyed out in the right-click drop-down menu. User created folders can be deleted and that's what OldSalty wants to prevent.

I searched the registry for the "default folders" but found no reference. This makes me believe that the "default folders" are hard coded in Outlook Express. They really aren't folders in the normal sense of the word but opens the data base file (*.dbx).

I see no solution to Your problem, apart from making regular backups of the folder holding the *.dbx files.
