I have OE 6 with Windows 2000 on a Dell Latitude LS computer. Have no problems in the past and suddenly after over a year have just "lost" the messages in sent items. The file size when you go to the Outlok Express folder under Program files is 82 MB and opening this in Notepad shows that the messages are actually there! However opening Oultook express shows nothing. The sent items save check box is ticked.

I have tried several things. Re-installed IE 6, no effect. Tried to import all the messages from OE 6 to MS Oulook. Outlook imports the address book but states that it cannot find the registry entries for Outlook Express.

Have compacted all folders ( having already saved the Sent items folder) no effect except that it did take the Sent items folder down to a few kilobytes, just the last few sent items. Deleting this file and copying over the original sent items DBX folder seems also to have no effect.

I am wondering if the folders are also stored somewhere else on the computer ( I do have a Novell Network at work). This first occured a few days ago, so my sent items folder had only a few items in it and tonight it has disappeared again

Any help wouyld be greatly appreciated.

Open OE, click on view, show current view, and see if a checkmark/dot is in "show all messages ". See if that works.

No, the View all messages checkbox is clicked - thanks for the try,

I saw this problem on MS site for OE several months ago. It had something to do with the sent folder being damaged. You may try a search there.
