When I receive HTML mail in OE 6 (ver. No.6.002800.1807) I see in many cases a rectangle with a red X.
I'd naturally Like to see the picture...:(
I already searched: http://www.slipstick.com/ as well as MS database: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283807 (which is IE oriented) and quite a few more "help" sites, which I googled to find.
can anyone direct me to a solution?
    Thanks
    laksi

In OE go to Tools > Options > Security tab and make sure Block images and other external content in HTML email isn't checked.

    Thank you, Whiskeyman... But...
There is no such item in all of OE Tools > Options, let alone in Security.:(, not even in the Advanced window.
    So where does it hide?
    yours, laksi

You do not have the latest version of OE which rather suggests that you have not visited Windows Update recently :)

    Latest version is 6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp2_rtm.040803-2158).

Update and you should see the Security tab (screenshot)

laksi--Notice that there are two boxes that have to be unchecked in PeteC's Security tab image. One, "Do not allow attachments..." and "Block images... ".

    Also perhaps of interest

If the problem is with OE, I do not think the version of Windows matters.

OE is an integral part of Internet Explorer - the latest version here - see System Requirements - compatible with Win 2k

    Thanks again, BUT...

    IE Version is: 6.0.2800.1106
    Update version:;SP1;
And... Windows Update is installed and I'm a very orthodox updater... :)
And... As my time here is 00:39 and my due waking time is 05:30... I'll try reinstalling IE 6 SP1 sometime tomorrow afternoon, leaving some time to hope.
    Thanks again

Although I am not familiar with Win 2k I would have thought that the same version of OE would be used in W2k and XP, but that may not be the case.

I am running IE 7 so cannot check the latest version no. of IE 6.

    My IE6 version is 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

This is on my XP Home setup.

This problem may be caused by a problem at the senders end. Have you tried to send a HTML email with images to yourself to determine it isn't a problem at your end? This could also be caused by malware or a restrictive anti-virus/anti-malware program.
